Hunt Broyhill & Charles Campbell
Chestnut at Blowing Rock developers, Hunt Broyhill and Charles Campbell share their vision with citizens of Blowing Rock.
When Hunt Broyhill and Charles Campbell first met as fellow students at Wake Forest University in 1984, neither could have imagined the lifelong friendship and future business endeavors that lay ahead. Two years ago they began to focus on the possibilities provided by the pending closure of the Blowing Rock Hospital due to the creation of a new medical facility, “The Foley Center”.
Hunt, who serves as Chairman, President, and CEO of the BMC Fund, Inc. and President of Broyhill Investment, Inc. and Charles, who is CEO and Co-Managing Partner of Flagship Healthcare Properties, LLC, with headquarters in Charlotte NC, assembled a project team of local professionals to develop an appropriate strategy to transform this premier high-country location, overlooking downtown Blowing Rock. After the previous owner removed the old hospital facility and associated infrastructure, Broyhill and Campbell secured the site on June 30, 2017, under the name Chestnut Partners LLC.
Since acquiring the property the group has proceeded with the site development and construction at a focused pace. The entire site has been made ready for the 8 buildings which will contain the 23 luxury residences with first floor elevations completed by the end of November 2017. The first two buildings and associated 5 residences are expected to be occupant-ready by Summer 2018, followed by an additional 2 buildings and 6 residences completed by either late Summer or early Fall 2018.
When asked about this aggressive timeline, Charles Campbell asserted, “The project team has put together a unique plan and superior quality product that will address the requirements of today’s discerning buyer. As reflected by extremely encouraging presales, the community has fully embraced this project. We are confident that we will meet our timeline.” Hunt Broyhill added, "My family has invested in the high country community and lifestyle for generations. I can’t overstate how excited I am to play a role in the continuing involvement of the Broyhill family, which has included the Blowing Rock Country Club, the Green Park Inn and the Mayview Manor. We have the opportunity here to do something really exciting for Blowing Rock and the high country."
